Yellow Barn adapts summer season from festival to residencies
In 1969, David Wells started the Yellow Barn in Putney as a getaway for his students from the Manhattan School of Music. Over 50 years later, the Yellow Barn now serves as a place of education and expression for young artists from across the country. While the Yellow Barn commits itself to providing outstanding learning and performance opportunities in Southern Vermont, the center also has a worldwide presence, making a variety of landscapes, from school classrooms to city lots, their home.
This year, because of COVID-19, the Yellow Barn is shaking up its model. Artists will still perform onstage in Putney, but spaced out and with no live audience. The concerts will be livestreamed, free, on the center’s website.
