For Shakespeare in the Woods, the ‘grassy stage remains dark’ this season
As Katharine Maness found success in New York City’s theater world, she felt a tug calling her back home to Vermont. That urge eventually took shape as Shakespeare in the Woods, an outdoor theater festival held outside each summer in Manchester, where Maness now serves as artistic director. The festival hosts three productions each year, and while the outdoor performance space offers its own spin on the classic works, Shakespeare in the Woods colors its interpretation with a conscientious, modern perspective.
That perspective will be on pause this summer. Instead, Shakespeare in the Woods will present what would have been its 2020 season next summer, but will still announce the season’s creative team this summer.
“We remain dedicated to bringing you exceptional, boundary pushing work with immensely talented artists that is accessible to all,” Maness said.
