Aston Magna Music Festival makes past performances available online

The Aston Magna Music Festival brings classical music to life using the instruments of their time. Since it began in 1972, the musicians who perform in the festival focus on performing music in the way the composers imagined it. Technique and style play an equally important role as the period instruments themselves.

The group has toured Europe to bring another layer of authenticity to their music- location. According to their website, the Aston Magna musicians performed Handel’s “The Triumph of Time and Truth in the Pamphilj Palace” in Rome, where the piece premiered in 1707.

The music festival has been cancelled this summer, but recordings of past performances are available online. Aston Magna has provided some recordings for free, and others are available for purchase as CD’s or on iTunes.
