Winter in Bennington, Vermont, brings the perfect backdrop for cozy getaways, and no visit would be complete without a meal at TAAN, the town’s newest destination for authentic Thai cuisine. Located inside the elegant South Shire Victorian mansion, TAAN offers a blend of traditional Thai flavors inspired by the cuisine of Siam and different regions in Thailand, courtesy of owner and chef Jariya Wannapat.

Jariya’s winter menu is something to look forward to this season. Known for her exceptional skills in both plating and presentation, Jariya brings the warmth and comfort of homestyle Thai cooking into a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. While the restaurant’s setting in a historic Victorian mansion exudes elegance, Jariya ensures that her food and hospitality remain approachable, making each visit feel like dining at a friend’s table.

What’s coming in the new year at TAAN?

One of the most exciting developments at TAAN is Jariya’s upcoming partnership with three local farms in Vermont and New York. These farms are dedicating space to grow essential ingredients used in TAAN’s dishes. Come summer, TAAN will be supplied with an abundance of fresh produce such as tomatoes, peppers, string beans, and more. This collaboration reflects Jariya’s commitment to fresh, authentic ingredients while supporting the local community. While TAAN stays true to traditional Thai cuisine, the use of regionally grown produce will ensure the freshest flavors, giving each dish a unique, farm-to-table touch.

This winter, TAAN’s menu will feature comforting dishes like Thai noodle soup, and Khao Soi–a rich, curry noodle soup from Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand–all prepared with the freshest ingredients. Each dish is meticulously crafted, with Jariya’s eye for detail making every plate as beautiful as it is delicious.

For those exploring Bennington this winter, stopping at TAAN is a must. Jariya Wannapat’s passion for sharing her culture, combined with her dedication to working with local farms, makes this a dining experience that feels both authentically Thai and distinctly tied to the Vermont community. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, TAAN is the perfect place to enjoy a flavorful and memorable meal during the colder months.
