Taconic Music’s 10th Summer Festival runs from June 15–July 13, bringing faculty and guest musicians from across the U.S. and Italy to the Shires. The festival includes three Chamber Music Saturdays concerts and a pair of Young Artists concerts at BBA’s Riley Center for the Arts (143 Seminary Ave., Manchester Village), and the Taconic Pops Orchestra at SVAC’s Arkell Pavilion. A benefit concert at Dionondehowa Wildlife Sanctuary and School in Shushan, NY on June 28 and pop-up concerts around the region round out the season.
Saturday concerts (7:30 pm June 20, 27, and July 11) feature faculty from Taconic’s Chamber Music Intensive: Joana Genova and Heather Braun, violins; Ariel Rudiakov, viola and conductor; Tom Landschoot and Hannah Holman, celli; and Davide Cabassi, Drew Petersen and Willis Delony, piano. They will be joined by featured guests including bassists Evan Runyon and John Madere, drummer Chad Braud, flutist Susanna Loewy, violinist Rose Drucker, and The Indianapolis Quartet (violinists Zachary DePue and Joana Genova, violist Michael Strauss, and cellist Egor Antonenko) in programs ranging from Bach to jazz, piano trio to string octet, and more. General admission is $30 for adults; students/kids free. Reservations are recommended, and season subscriptions are available.
Monday Young Artists Concerts (7pm, June 29 and July 13) feature resident students from Taconic’s full-scholarship Chamber Music Intensive, performing classical and contemporary works for strings and piano. There is a suggested donation of $15 for adults (students/kids free). In addition to live performances at the Riley Center, all Chamber Music Saturdays and Young Artists Concerts will be livestreamed on Taconic’s YouTube channel.
On Saturday, July 4 at 7:30pm, Ariel Rudiakov conducts the Taconic Pops Orchestra in a program featuring music for stage and screen, with works by Leonard Bernstein, Chuck Mangione, Ennio Morricone, Hanz Zimmer, John Williams ,and more! Tickets (reserved seating, $20–$85) are likely to sell out; reservations are strongly recommended.
