Welcome to UpCountry, a magazine for visitors to and denizens of the Berkshires and Southern Vermont.
If UpCountry sounds familiar to some of you, it should. It’s a revival of a title produced back in the 1970s by The Berkshire Eagle, Brattleboro Reformer and Bennington Banner. Under new and local ownership, our publishing company – New England Newspapers Inc. – wanted to produce a magazine that summons our region’s pride and history while capturing its contemporary vibe.
UpCountry is the region we call home – the Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts and the Green Mountains of Southern Vermont. It’s the people who thrive here, work here, play here. It’s the folks who live and visit here to bask in the region’s beauty, who soak up its culture, who take on its adventures.
UpCountry – this bastion of fun and creativity surrounded by the most beautiful of landscapes – is a state of mind.
